9-year-old Miami boy with autism found dead after being abducted in ‘ambush,’ police say

UPDATE Friday 9:11 a.m.:

Nine-year-old Alejandro Ripley was found dead, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced shortly before 9 a.m. Friday. Police say the boy was abducted Thursday after two men “ambushed” his mother during a late night drive in West Kendall.

A death investigation is underway in the area of Southwest 62nd Street and 138th Court by the Miccosukee Golf & Country Club. Police have not confirmed whether the body that was found is Alejandro, although the area is about 10 minutes away from where police say he was abducted.

Helicopter video taken by multiple TV news stations shows police searching the area by a nearby canal.

Alejandro Ripley has autism and is non-verbal, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. He was last seen wearing a blue Captain America shirt, black shorts and black Crocs. He is 4-11, weighs 120 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. He has a scar on his left leg.
